Bessie Adams served PDHC as a volunteer for 26 years and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 4th. Bessie touched so many lives and set a wonderful example for us all! Bessie first became part of PDHC when a small pregnancy center in West Jefferson where she was volunteering, was combined into PDHC. She faithfully served as an active volunteer in PDHC’s Abortion Recovery (aR) Program for many years, first by leading groups of women through the post-abortion support program H.E.A.R.T., and the Living in Color program, as well as assisting in the Abortion Recovery weekend retreats, Connection Meetings, and other special events. Bessie has also served PDHC through the years as a greeter, client consultant and was an amazing mentor for young moms and dads as a facilitator for parenting classes in several of our PDHC Care Centers. In 2016, Bessie received the PDHC “Pierce Award” as “Volunteer of the Year” because she is truly an example of God’s loving kindness and faithfulness. Her life experiences combined with her love for sharing God’s grace were the source of Bessie’s spark and compassion for others. While the rest of the world slows down their pace in the ‘golden years”, not Bessie. She always wanted to keep learning and kept an open mind to change. Last year, she had just completed a Certificate in Ministry program at her church at the young age of 75! She wanted to be qualified for whatever job God was preparing her to do! Bessie was an active member of the Potter's House Church of God in Columbus, OH and had received the support of her pastor to offer Living in Color Abortion Recovery groups at her church. Bessie, we honor you today and know that your legacy lives on here at PDHC! For more information on partnering with us, visit SupportLifePDHC.org.
Bessie's Place resides at our new Empowerment Center, for our Abortion Recovery Groups.
